Koala

Been experimenting with the Menagerie base template again.

This one was a special request from my Aunt Laura, who's been sewing Menagerie critters non-stop since she got her hands on the pattern.

Folks have been emailing me to ask about Menagerie 2 because I was so effervescent about it in that earlier post and then dropped off the face of the earth, as it were. I apologize for that - I was working on a collaboration project with a magazine that fell through at the last minute, which was frustrating, because I'd put aside the new Menagerie critters (and a couple other sewing patterns) to do it. Life has been crazy recently. I'll tell you about it someday when I've found the words. For now, I'm thinking I need my superpower Tshirt, a good therapist and an obscene quantity of dark chocolate.

Hope the summer's been going well for everyone!

  1. This is so cute. So very sorry life is being difficult. I hope the stormy seas smooth soon. I have missed your inspiring, informative, and entertaining presence in my email box. I hope a bit of creative time was helpful. Wishing you REALLY high quality chocolates, and beautiful, smooth, newly laid pavement on the road ahead. (I know my analogies clash, I don’t care.)

  5. Whatever is going on sounds difficult and intense. I'm sorry!

And the collaboration project. How frustrating.

The koala is darling. One of these days I'm going to start sewing menagerie animals. Right now I'm working on a pair of trousers (from a pattern). I actually am planning to start your drafting series with a local friend once our kids all head back to school in the fall. This will be my first year ever with all four kids in school and it just seemed so fortuitous to finally find a local sewing friend who was interested in learning to draft clothing! In the meantime my kids have been crafting up a cardboard storm, and it makes me think of you every time they make something new.
