I have no background in teaching at all, and grew up and went to school in a country on the opposite side of the world to where I now live and have my children in school. I am privileged to be a "stay at home Mum" (which, with an 11 yr old, 8 yr old, 6 yr old and a 4 yr old, doesn't seem to involve much staying at home I have to say!) and have coached hockey teams (even though I knew barely more about the game than the kids I was coaching) transported mine (and other people's children) to various out of school activities, and shared with my kids' classes about my birth country when they were doing a topic on Scotland during the commonwealth games. I am now also on the school Board of Trustees, and I have to say that through that I have gained such an appreciation for the teachers and all they actually do - there's so much more to their role than what you see in relation to your own child/children! Anyway, sorry for the really long comment, I just had to let you know that I so relate, even all the way from NZ... :-)Meghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06257399666283426911noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4540761711646097949.post-84961495316686159162014-11-26T09:34:33.915-06:002014-11-26T09:34:33.915-06:00It's so important for the teachers to have sup...It's so important for the teachers to have supportive families and it's so important for your kids to see you in their classrooms and at school. I feel very lucky to be able to volunteer so much time in my daughter's school. Even though my students' parents are not able to do as much in the classroom this year, I love how supportive they are as often as they can be. It's nice to work together! What memories your post called up for me. I miss and don't miss those days. My daughter wants to be an elem school teacher, and if she teaches close to my home, maybe I can be the classroom Grandma...wenhkchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13836027509448361314noreply@blogger.com
