Tea Party Behind The Scenes - Fabric

What's a tea party without real cloth napkins?

Or teabags, sugar cubes and lemon slices?

To toss into a giant teacup?

Or the sugar-laden treats?

Let it be said here that I've always liked felt food,
and I wish I had more time to indulge in the making
of it. When we decided we'd be doing a tea party
birthday this year - well, I indulged.

Quite the smorgasbord of calories, were they real.
Fortunately they were mere felt, fleece, beads and stuffing.

We hid them all over the yard,

gave each party guest a treasure map,

armed them with their
handbags,

and sent them off to seek -

- one jam tart, one cookie, one cupcake,
one cinnamon roll and one donut.

These were their goodbye-and-thank-you-
for-coming gifts, and for their sweet friendship
to the little birthday girl.

P.S. No tutorials for these - you can find tutorials for felt food all over the internet. I adapted two tutorials for my felt treats -
Rachael Rabbit's fabric cupcake and Skip To My Lou's famous doughnuts and winged everything else.

  4. LiEr. I think you might be the most productive and brilliant person who has ever lived. I don't know everyone who has ever lived, so take that with a grain of salt. But still. Holy schmoly.

  11. Beautiful! Every day I come to appreciate you more and more for the lovely things you do for your kids! Even if I hadn't been working full time, I don't know how will I find time to do all this. I am comforting myself by telling myself, it's all in the genes! At least that's one thing anybody could use for an excuse.

  13. Another brilliant birthday celebration!

How did you make the handles for those handbags? It looks like they have beads?

  14. Jess - about the cinnamon rolls - they're stitched together, exactly like the lollipops from the Little Blue House. I started out cutting one long strip of tan and one of dark brown fleece, and sewing the long sides together, wrong sides out, to make a tube. Then turned right side out, and started coiling so the tan side was outside. The white frosting is puffy paint from any craft store.
