Even more random updates

Hey!

I have nothing to report. And to prove it, I will now proceed to three or four paragraphs of pointless but mildly interesting (to me, anyway) updates.

Paragraph 1
I have not written a blog post in over a week. Why is that? Answer: half the week was spent adjusting to having three newly-school-less children in the house 24/7. I was deliciously unproductive now that I didn't have to watch the clock in order to drive someone somewhere. The other half the week was spent hyperventilating - see Paragraph 2.

Paragraph 2
I've been making myself sew samples for someone else's book. No, that's not a euphemism for "my book" - it literally is someone else's book I am lucky enough to be in. These are projects that I've made before - one of which is that House in the Hallway. Do you know how difficult it is to sew the same thing twice? Especially an entire tent? I had to listen to music while I sewed. Without music, I would've given up and spent the day eating chocolate. So I listened to Kevin Max while I sewed. Remember him? I mentioned him at the end of this post. Doesn't get better than Kevin Max. And I tweeted that, and Kevin Max tweeted me back. Yes, he did. And I died. Remember that post in which I said I sorta hated Twitter? I take it all back. I love Twitter. The only reason this paragraph isn't entirely in caps and exclamation points is that it's four days after the fact and I've finally stopped hyperventilating. Before you scoff at how I came dangerously close to a rabid-fan reaction, answer this: how many uber-talented Grammy-award-winning* singing superstars tweeted you back today? Eh?

Paragraph 3
I've finished the Sisters Grimm book series. Sniff. I've now swung violently to the other end of the reading spectrum and am attempting to finish my Quantum Physics book. It's fascinating but it doesn't have dragons, heroes (Erwin Schrodinger doesn't count), magic mirrors or snarky boy fairies, so it is taking me a little longer to digest.

Paragraph 4
OK- one photo. I've made enough progress on the book samples (see para 2) to justify a small sewing deviation:

Yes, that's piping. Piping is what makes life fun, you know?

End of random updates.

  1. Aaah...you have solved one of life's great mysteries for me! I've always wondered who the guy with the cool voice in the dctalk music was. Now I know! Love his contribution to the newsboys new stuff.

    1. Wasn't dct awesome? And yes, KM gets so much airtime at home these days -including those two Newsboys tracks - that the kids sing his songs too.

    1. Let's hope it's soon! That was three days ago and nothing else has been added! Time to get KM back on air.

  3. Your piping skills are amazing! (I hate Twitter. Though I was re-tweeted by the vice president of the United States recently.)

  4. I have been a Kevin Max fan since before they actually let him sing much in DC Talk! There is just something about his voice... My husband got to see him live in LA a few years ago at an intimate little bar. Needless to say, I was soo jealous!

  5. I have Kevin Max, The Imposter. What is your favourite? I might have to buy another. I got the the tulip lunch bucket in the mail the other day. Just as gorgeous as the pictures! Thanks so much. I have a little niece who will get that for her birthday. You do such awesome work. Now I'm trying to decide if I should buy the pattern and attempt to make some myself... Wish I had your skills. And yesterday I finally sewed up a couple of your racerback sundresses. Adorable on my little girl. Thanks so much for the patter tutorial. They turned out perfect (well, almost aside from a couple of my own careless mistakes).

    1. Ah, KM: Stereotype Be, Imposter, and some MP3s from other albums - love Walking Through Walls and Hallelujah. And Fade To Red (on The Imposter) is to die for. Wouldn't his ears burn to know he's monopolizing the comments on my SEWING blog? Changing the subject now (to sewing, I mean) - am glad the bucket arrived! Am so wary of the postal service now, after mum's Tshirt went MIA. Thanks again for buying it.

  6. I am also curious about the book. Congratulations! That must be exciting. Can you tell us some details ? ;)

  7. For having nothing to report, you certainly say interesting things. =) That teaser photo is certainly lovely. Thanks to you, I adore piping, although I've only used it in one (unfinished) project so far.
