Time Waster

So just to avoid going to bed last night, I was on FB. And found this test for right- and left- brainedness that one of my friends took. So I took it, too. Very silly, especially when one is already half asleep and cannot follow instructions.

Apparently, I am not very creative, imaginative or artistic. Instead, I am, according to this 30 second test, rational and logical. And all you people (including me) who thought I was insane were wrong. Maybe I should shut down this craft blog forever and start one all about Pythagoras theorem discussions and fractals and matrices and vectors and stuff like that.

Or I could launch my own theory: the human brain has four lobes:

And anyone can utilize any or all of their lobes at any time they like, and any combination thereof counts as equal lunacy superior.

  1. Ahahaha! I test the exact same % as you, so I call bs on the whole thing. Think I messed up at least 5 questions by not reading/thinking quickly! :)

  2. Haha, I just took the test and had the same result as you. Maybe I should give up on my sewing and other creative pursuits too!

  3. Hmm, I wouldn't necessarily disagree. I think you have a very clear, logical and organized style of thinking, even if you're writing about 'creative' arts-and-craft stuff.

I see a distinction very often in the knitting world, between process and product knitters. The former love the act of knitting, have a million projects in various stages of completion, and don't really care if what they make is too large, too small, or unsuitable as long as it keeps them knitting. The product knitters also love knitting, but they're aiming for a definite product -- so they're very disciplined about swatching before starting, and ripping out and redoing something that doesn't feel right. They apply logic to their crafting.

    I feel you'd be a left-brained product knitter :)

  4. Haha! You made me waste my time, too... and I got the same results as you did. I like your theory better! :)

  5. I think the only time you can take those FB tests, i.e. 'which downton abbey character are you?' is when you are half-asleep.

  7. Anytime you want to talk fractals my 4 year old would love to hear it. I love fractals and since Frozen came out so does she. Every snowflake is now referred to as a fractal.
Think the results might be wrong, you probably broke it - they couldn't cope with the sheer amount of creative and imaginative power that you projected in your answers.

  11. I also got 50/50 - explains perhaps why I am proficient at many things but excel at nothing?
