we made the wig part, anyway.
It took 15 minutes. I didn't even have to procrastinate. And then Kate glued on her own embellishments.
If only my children would be happy wearing scratchy, itchy, unfitting and untwirly outfits, we'd buy them from the store right away and be done with it. But they've somehow discovered the existence of high-fashion knits, and now they will only wear costumes made from them (or lined with them). Alas.

ReplyDeleteMy 3.5 year old granddaughter is insisting on being Elsa, too. Her mother is sewing her costume and was having fits with the hair. Your idea looks beautiful.

ReplyDeleteWhile I am very excited to see your well designed and properly constructed Frozen costumes, I have to admit I am THRILLED that my girls decided against Elsa and Anna and want to be Lego Friends instead (Olivia and Stephanie, to be precise). I have already fusibly appliqued shirts to match the Lego shirts and the super simple ruffly skirts are half done. They, as Lego Friends, will stick out like sore thumbs amongst the throngs of Elsa's but thats just fine with me. And...the best part...as soon as the school parade is finished these 'costumes' will be put in the drawers for everyday school clothes. They are just cute shirts and skirts! Bonus! Have fun with your Elsa and Anna (and Olaf?) but I'll take my Lego Friends any day.
ReplyDeleteAnne, I only have an Elsa this year. Thankfully. The middle child is working her way through Susan Pevensie's on-screen Narnian wardrobe, so at least that will be enjoyable to sew. Not that Disney princesses are boring, but Narnian ones are just far more so. That said, I keep reminding myself not to whine and moan about who my kids want to dress up as; the day is coming all too soon when they will no longer be all fantastical and wonder-filled, and will want common things like Tshirts and prom dresses. And - in the blink of an eye - wedding gowns. And I'll be like, "Whoa! Just yesterday this young lady was Elsa, and only 3 feet tall, twirling around and casting spells, with nary a care in the world."
DeleteI tipped my sister off that my daughter would love an Elsa costume for Halloween. My sister is all over it with her Visa, thankfully, which means I can sew other things. However, this wig is so cute and easy . . .
