The Storm Took Our Internet

.... and our TV reception and DVD player. And the neighbor's TVs. And another neighbor's tree, which crashed into the side of their house. Exciting night, Thursday. Big flash of lightning, a horrible sound, then the radio alarm clock turned on by itself. Like X-Files, but without the witty dialogue. So no internet (or TV reception) for three days, while we were in the queue for the repairman to come visit us. His van was parked all day on our street today, moving from house to house, re-installing everyone's internet cables. Poor chap - it's Sunday. I'm just grateful there were no casualties (the dead tree notwithstanding). It could've been so much worse.

So..... what did I miss? Anyone publish a new book? Anyone sew something out-of-this-world, like, say, the world's first workable fabric automobile (that runs on ugly polyester remnants and serger lint)? I haven't even dared look at my google reader yet - it must be in the thousands of unread posts now.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and sorry if all your comments have gone unpublished till now, or all your email messages have been rudely ignored. Unbelievable, I know, that I've been throwing out excuse after excuse, all computer-related, for why there is still no sign of those wretched sloper tutorials. They are all true! They are! How can so many unhappy computer scenarios happen to one family in such a short time? I guess when it rains, it pours. Literally.

  1. liEr ... glad you are well. Hey, good things come to those who wait. What a happy surprise to find the tute tonight. I understand the "everything keeps breaking" scenario. My Hubby has been repairing cars, pool pumps, etc. etc. But the clencher ... tonight I asked him to make me valve stems for some rafts that were purchased, used and put away 9 years ago -- without the valve stems. He knew right where the original valves were! Hope your computer luck turns into my valve stem luck! Thanks for the sloper tutes.
