Ruby and Shimmer

It's hard to photograph red (or fuschia or shocking pink), I've learnt. You've got to have some other color in there or all the exposure and hue and tone settings go crazy. Same with white. I usually put my foot in the photo for some color contrast (and then crop it out), just so that the camera won't think it's a blank wall.

Anyway, the three days of internetlessness gave me time to work on this garment. It's shinier than it looks. Also it frays copiously, which means it will be soft and nice to wear. It's the first time in years I've drafted and sewn for another adult. Quite different from sewing for children. They actually stand still to be measured, for one. This is a commissioned piece, but I'm asking to be paid in chocolate.

  1. Thanks for the tip. I've always struggled with photographing red so I'll try this next time.
