One dozen bags

I made some more bags this past week -

in teal,

grey

and yellow.

I made quite a few of them, actually (as usual).

They're just regular totes with hem facings, straps

and french seams (because I don't serge bags and I didn't want to line these).

So nothing out of the ordinary.

Except for one thing (and let's see if you tell from this next picture):

They're small -

-er than

you might have thought.

See? They're teeeeeeeny!

And they are part of a much bigger project I've been working on since March. It has soooooooo many parts and I'm only about a third of the way through. I'm excited about it, but only when I'm not naughtily taking hiatuses to wander off and start new things. Which I seem to do regularly as a personality defect, almost.

You'll see them again soon. They have my labels on them, so you can tell they're going into the shop - sometime (one hopes) this year. I can't wait till I'm done!

  2. Huh. I'm stumped. Unless you're making little kits of some kind. Hmmm?? The bags are very sweet!

  4. Hi there, I'm just curious, why don't you serge bags?

    1. It's personal preference. But mostly because I've never (well, hardly) ever seen serged seams in commercial bags, so I don't see why they should be done in handmade, either. My first choice is always to completely line a bag because it's more finished that way, and hides all the raw edges. But with these tiny bags, it seemed a lot of silly work, especially when the outer fabric is so sturdy. So I used french seams instead, and left the bags themselves unlined.

  5. First I thought they will be Birthday party favors. But you are saying they will go into the shop and it's just 1/3 of the project, umm, are you writting a book on bags???

  6. Those are crazy cute. I don't know why I've never thought to use french seams in bags. Seems so obvious now!
