Wings

I made the girls some new skirts last week.

They're wraparound skirts

that are a little bit messy in the back.

The girls wore them out in the garden today

and morphed

into butterflies

or fairies

or butterfly-fairies

or whatever.

And flew.

Whee!

Breaking it down for you in the next post -

see you then!

P.S. No park today - blah weather. We stayed home to bake cookies - and blog, of course. Bah.

  1. Your winged skirts are beautiful! I just love your work. I not long ago found your blog and as someone who is new to the art of sewing, have found much inspiration from your work. I recently bought your patterns for the owie doll and toadstool and made my daughter the owie doll for her birthday. She is 2 and just loves 'Suzie'. Thank you for the inspiration and sharing your wonderful designs.
Just now that your ideas are bringing joy to many children all across the world.

  13. Oh my gosh, those are adorable! Seeing the youngest running through the grass reminds me on something that happened last week. My husband was visiting someone and the 6yo boy was on the deck and wanted to come in the grass. He didn't have his shoes on so he didn't think he could come in the grass barefoot. He had NEVER walked on grass barefoot! Egads.

  15. I've been wanting to make something like that. My daughters saw those new skirts like that in the Barbie isle and went nuts over them!
I'm so glad you're gonna share how to make them!

  16. @Cole's Corner

Yes! That's where we saw them at Target and they were horrible and plasticky and stiff and Emily (6 year old) wanted them but they would only fit a 3-year old. Plus they were $20 apiece. So we said we'd make our own. Plastic aside, it was such a clever design, wasn't it? We loved it, too.
