that I'd been sitting on for several years.
Some Scandinavian-style embroidery on upholstery suede. These, along with the newer cuts of the same suede in different colors, will become shoulder bags at some point in the future. Which could then become a sewing pattern. Unless - erk - I sit on that, too. Regardless, it feels good to finish something!
I too find old WIPs a helpful way to ease back into sewing after an extended hiatus. There’s the buzz of finally finishing something after forever which gives you momentum, yet it’s boring enough to make you want to stretch yourself as the creative process was worked out years ago. Baby steps! Good luck in the death throes of winter.
ReplyDeleteElisha: How absolutely and exceedingly true (especially the bit about it being boring in a meaningful way)! Thank you for putting it into words!
DeleteBeautiful! I remember that suede.
ReplyDeleteOh, very nice! Embroidery is very satisfying--well, once I get into the groove and my stitches start looking ok--my stem stitch skills still need improving upon.
ReplyDeleteCool! Did you do it freehand? or somehow draw it on the fabric first?
ReplyDeleteLulu: thank you! I drew it on the fabric with chalk.
