People Tree

This morning, before church (so daring, I know) we made a tree.

We started out with a large paper cone out of a used poster board, matte side out

that had a slit in the tip to slot in a cardboard star.

Then we gathered all the green markers in the house

and the kids colored the tree, while I stumbled off, bleary-eyed, to brush my teeth.

We added some pom-pom trim

and broke out our ornament stickers. We wrote a name on each ornament, for a person we were glad for.

And stuck them on the tree.

Very easy. Even small children can do this while their mothers are in the shower. The bonus was hearing the kids say why they were glad for so-and-so in their lives.

Here's an interesting variation - haven't tried it out so I can't vouch for it - buy magnetic paint (Liquid Magic) from Michaels, paint the tree, then make light magnetic ornaments using magnetic sheets.
