Host A Sewing Party?

Sick as a dog this week. The only reason my posts are going out at all is that I took all the photos etc before the kids' viruses got me. Then I hit "publish" and voila! The illusion of being productive and creative while actually lying dead on the sofa. It's 9 pm and I'm going to conk out for the night soon - a sure sign of illness because I hardly ever retire before midnight - but I wanted to keep a promise and tell everyone about this:




I was asked some time ago to apply to host one of these sewing parties. I declined, but I said I would pass on the information in case anyone else was interested to be a host. There's freebies and discounts and other good stuff, so if you're interested, read more about it here. The deadline to apply is tomorrow, so I'm sorry for sitting on it this long.



P.S. Unrelated, I'm thinking that sometime I should do a tutorial on How To Work With Cardboard? I thought this was a skill everyone had, but maybe not?

    Please please please do a cardboard post! I am so pathetic with cardboard. and give us some clues about decent adhesives (for cardboard or otherwise, and preferably something you can buy in the states :-), because I am really fed up with trying to find good glue for different purposes.

    Hi, Jenny Anderson home childcare mom of 2 girls, 4 and 6. We live in Northern IL, 20 minutes from Wisconsin. And I love your ideas! Thank you for posting this opportunity. After over 12 years of heavy use, my sewing machine conked out, and it is on my list to replace. I've been adapting ideas. For example, I made play tea party food out of colored craft foam. I have also been doing more sewing by hand. I love the blanket stitch. But I really miss my Singer! Now I am getting really excited! I applied, so I am looking forward to hearing back from them soon!

    I'd love to hear some stuff on how to work with cardboard. I've never really done it much before but you make such fun things. I'd love to be able to make some furniture for my barbie collection or something fun for my nephews to play in. Do you use hot glue on cardboard? Or some other kind of way to make things stay put?

    Cardboard--YES!!! Even though we do some stuff with it, you are such a pro I know I'd learn something, most likely lots. And I love learning how you think. Glues, fasteners, sources (types of cardboard), etc.

    yes yes yes!! you should totally do it!! I have no imagination when it comes to morphing cardboard into anything except... well, a box!! I would love a cardboard tutorial!!

    I, too, would love a run-down on cardboard fastening. We have a lot of cardboard fun, but certainly haven't mastered glue: I've been having better luck with yarn and a needle for larger construction, partially because I don't fancy buying a bunch of different kinds of toxic grown up glue (as opposed to virtually edible childrens glue sticks) and trying them out--seems too wasteful.
