Addendum on Hat Assembly

Hello everyone! Off to cut out some shorts for the girls now, but wanted to let you know that I've added a bit in yesterday's Hat post on how I assembled my hat.

Some readers have written in/left comments to ask how I assembled the hat. I've gathered that, while hat patterns are widely available, the methods for assembling such a double-sided hat seem a bit tricky to some. I don't know what those methods are, since I haven't seen those patterns myself, so I can't comment on them. I can only tell you about my own hat. When I was making it, I didn't baste anything or hand-stitch anything or run into any tricky bits at all. I did, however, deliberately use my seam-ripper - we're very good friends, you know - to help me with one tiny part. Very useful bit of magic, it was.

I wrote some photo-less steps for how I assembled my reversible hat at the end of that post, so if you'd like an alternative method, go ahead and give mine a shot.

  1. Thank's for this easy and untricky explanation.
I think I'll try it soon, only have to look for a nice pattern.
    I love your blog!
    Thank you for blogging!

  2. Thanks for that explanation - I've been a bit put off sewing a hat as brim looked to be a bit tricky but you've made it sound quite easy so will give it a go soon. Cheers
