Miscellany

Just wanted to share my favorite series of craft books:
Most of them are crafts, anyway. The others are incredible
inspiration for other stuff to do with the kids. To my sorrow,
they are all almost extinct, like my favorite drafting books.
It seems I don't get as inspired by anything that is still in
print. Pity. My oldest school friend remembers me
repeatedly checking these out of our elementary school
library - and every time the traveling book vendors
came to our school,I wish I'd saved enough allowance
to buy one (or all). Now I am slowly building my collection
with the help of ebay. That book of Action Toys is
amazing. I just got it in the mail last week and I
want to make every toy in it.
Everything is from scratch. Yummy.

Over the next two weeks, I will be hunkering down
to work with my
PVC pipes again and some swatches of canvas
It's something I've never made before, and involves
a sewing machine and a hacksaw. Very fun but also
highly likely to end up a dismal failure, especially since
I haven't felt like sewing much in the last month or two.
Which explains why I'm getting my kids to sew on my
behalf, and my sewing notions to blog for me.
All I want to do is make cardboard toys.

  1. Oooooo, you need a pvc pipe cutter -- it's a simple hand tool! They cut like a dream; no sanding required -- and I think they only run about eight bucks.

I am definitely looking forward to seeing what you are making!

  3. Argh, Care! And after I'd already ruined our hacksaw. Shouldn't have listened to that Home Depot guy after all.

  4. I'd be quite happy to hear about your cardboard crafts instead of sewing! I have enough sewing projects swimming through my brain - diversification would be nice!

  6. Yeah! I used to get these books out over and over again from my local library as a child. Will have to try to track them down. I loved the Paper Craft one best I think.
